The 2015 Association of Healthcare Cleaning Professionals (AHCP) Awards were held in Nottingham recently, with the Working in Partnership Award going to Sodexo and Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CMFT).
This award demonstrates a well developed partnership in order to improve the patient environment experience. Sodexo created a seamless integration with CMFT and went the extra mile by implementing "cleaning matters" boards, which is a patient-focused communication tool allowing visiters to see that cleaning is a top priority at CMFT, by breaking down the cleaning that is carried out in an easy-to-read manner. The project was first created after patient feedback highlighted the need to understand the cleaning regime of the hospital. The board features the cleaning activity the patient will experience, a feedback section for patients to discuss the services currently being provided and photographs of the Sodexo staff who work on site.
When asked about this project, Sharon Salmon the FM improvement team manager of CMFT said "The cleaning matters boards introduced in all our wards and departments allow our patients to access information regarding the services they can expect from Sodexo whilst a patient at Central Manchester."
Congratulations to Sodexo for winning this award - it is well deserved and your patient-oriented approach is inspirational to us all.
